Software has been developed to help people update their HTC Desire to Android 2. 2 unofficially.
Unrevoked3 flashes a custom recovery image to an Android phone to allow a user to then flash a “hooky 2. 2 rom” to the phone.
HTC Desire owners have been waiting patiently for the Android 2. 2, aka Froyo, update. HTC initially said Desire owners would have it by the end of June and now say it will be here before the end of the year.
HTC Desire customers will be given priority and then the update will be rolled out to the HTC Wildfire and HTC Legend.
While some may be tempted to unofficially update their phones, attempts to do so are likely to void a phone’s warranty.
It’s expected that the HTC Desire’s rumoured successor – the HTC Desire HD will be released with Android 2. 2 already running on it next October.
