Stereoscopic 3D is big business these days, and Fujifilm intends to milk this potential cash cow to the maximum with the FinePix REAL 3D W3 digital camera. As its name suggests, this model will go one up on its predecessor by being able to capture high-resolution 3D photos and movies in 3D HD at 720p, and this is made possible thanks to the new RP (Real Photo) Processor. Apart from that, it also comes with a new Mini HDMI port that lets you play back your recorded images and video on most 3D television systems – apart from its Autostereoscopic 3D Widescreen 3. 5” LCD display, of course. It makes us wonder with all these 3D devices going around, would bridal studios start to offer 3D footage and 3D images for their clients?
The slim FinePix REAL 3D W3 digital camera will sport a black matte finish in an ergonomic design, measuring just 21mm at its thinnest point while tipping the scales at just 8. 5 ounces with a battery and memory card stashed within. With its durable stainless steel material used in its construction, you can be sure that the optical axis within remains precisely balanced to deliver accurate 3D images. Not only that, the W3 will also feature a horizontal lens cover with wave detail that doubles up as an on/off switch.
The introduction of Fujifilm’s FinePix REAL 3D technology enables one to capture true 3D courtesy of its twin 10-megapixel CCD sensors alongside dual FUJINON 3x optical zoom lenses (35-105mm) which are spaced 75mm apart. Both 3D and 2D Auto functions enable just about anyone to capture high-definition, high-resolution movies and photos without breaking a sweat, while audio is preserved in stereo for more impact. The One Touch Movie Mode lets you switch between movie and still modes, letting you play with the subject matter at your whim and fancy. Expect to see the FinePix REAL 3D W3 digital camera hit the market sometime early next month for $499. 95.

The HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z have appeared on the ‘Coming Soon’ page of a mobile phone retail site.
Mobiles. co. uk lists the phones specs and rates them but does not have photographs of them or release dates.
It also says that “specifications may change” for the phones that were originally leaked under other names – the HTC Desire HD was known as the HTC Ace and the HTC Desire Z was called the HTC Vision.
The HTC Desire HD is reportedly HTC’s first smartphone to be released with Google’s Android 2. 2 operating system, aka Froyo, It’s believed to be the HTC Desire but better and there’s been hints that it is the European version of the HTC Evo and looks like the HTC HD2.
The specifications seem similar to the various leaks and rumours – the phone will allegedly have a 4. 3-inch touchscreen, an eight-megapixel camera with HD video recording capabilities, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity.
The specifications for the HTC Desire Z are similar but as with reports on that phone it’s said to have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a smaller 3. 7-inch screen.
Both are listed to have all the features that are available on Android such as access to the app market and Google products such as search, email and Google Maps.
It’s not known if the phones will still have AMOLED displays or whether they’ll be the first HTC displays to use LCD technology.
ZDnet quote Mobiles. co. uk spokesman Ben Godber as saying that the specs were drawn up from the various rumours doing the rounds. Although other websites are saying that the retailer has had a look at the device or a spec sheet.
The HTC Desire HD has already made an appearance on a retailer site, appearing on Amazon for a while earlier this week.
HTC are yet to confirm the phones features, release dates or network partners, preferring to remain tight lipped until an event in September when it’s predicted to unveil the phones.

If you’re looking to have some remote controlled fun, then might we suggest the £99. 99 Panther? This is touted to be an “amazing, madcap, fearlessly insane remote control buggy” that is extremely nimble, and it is pretty rare to see an RC buggy move along at 45kmh (yes, it is that fast) without losing any of its control in the hands of a true master. Equally at home in both outdoors or large indoor spaces, the Panther would perform best in stylish rally skids and homemade assault courses. Assuming you have a large carpeted area, then the Panther will stick to the floor like a dream and respond to even the lightest touch. Relying on a trigger-style throttle and steering wheel, getting the Panther to respond to your commands is a snap, and it doesn’t matter if you’re a southpaw or not. Two hours of battery charging ought to give you plenty of fun before the next round of charging.

Nokia is polling customers on whether they prefer to use touchscreens or keypads as part of its promotion of the Nokia X3 Touch and Type.
The recently announced phone combines a touchscreen with a 12-button keypad to become Nokia’s first touch and type phone.
And to prove there’s a high demand for the phone Nokia set up a poll to find out which people prefer – touch or QWERTY – and surprisingly neither is a winner as most people want to do both with 58. 7% choosing a combination of the two so far.
The poll on Nokia’s official blog Nokia Conversations found that just under a quarter (21. 1%) of those polled so far would prefer a mainly touchscreen phone that has three to four buttons at most.
Only seven per cent said they would like a QWERTY only phone.
The slim line Nokia X3 Touch and Type is likely to go on sale before the end of September. Nokia says it will cost around €125, before tax.
Mary McDowell, Executive Vice President of Mobile Phones at Nokia, said: “Innovation is not just a high-end game. The Nokia X3 is a great example of bringing new consumer value to lower price points.
“We have designed the Nokia X3 to be a touch and type device because typing is ideal for SMS and social networking where fast and frequent input is needed, while touch is ideal for functions such as setting alarms, smooth browsing and controlling applications like music and games. ”
The Nokia X3 will have 3G connectivity, a music player plus access to Ovi Music Unlimited, an FM radio, an available 16GB memory card, a five-megapixel camera and video recorder.
It will be the younger sister of the Nokia X3, a slider music phone released last year, and it will join a number of other recent releases aimed at capturing the more budget-conscious end of the market, such as the Nokia C5.
Does it really matter if a phone is touch or type? Are other features more important? Let us know what you think by adding a comment in the box below!

It’s not hard to find yourself a gadget to purify the air, however, this one won’t take up any floor or table space like many others. This one hangs directly from your ceiling, just like your average ceiling fan. It just happens to keep the fan blades enclosed. That also means that you won’t accidentally bang your knuckles on the fan when you happen to be stretching just underneath the fan.
The filtering system that consists of 5 stages, circulates over 2,000 cubic feet of air every minute. The Purifan will work great for nursing homes or anywhere else that is in dire need of some clean air. Then of course, it would also work just fine to make sure the air in your home stays nice and clean. The filters come in 2 different forms, one for normal air ($42. 50) and one for smoky situations ($52. 50). The fan itself is pretty expensive, it’ll cost you $399. 95.

I doubt there is anyone left that hasn’t had to use their cellphone as a flashlight at some point or another. The bad thing about using your cellphone for that is that most of them the screen darkens after a short time. Plus it’s not exactly built to be a flashlight, so the light is a bit unfocused and doesn’t illuminate a whole lot. Thankfully, Think Geek has a very tiny flashlight that won’t require you to replace batteries, plus it’s incredibly portable.
I’m not a fan of bulky keychains, but this one seems to be small enough to make it easy to carry around. Thanks to the attached keychain you could just attach it to your keys and always have it handy. The big feature with this tiny LED flashlight is the very small hand crank. You can purchase it for all of $4. 99 through Think Geek.

Logitech wants you to spend more time playing or working in the dark with their latest addition, the Wireless Illuminated Keyboard K800. As its name suggests, this keyboard will come with backlit keys that have not yet lost its novelty, although Logitech is nice enough to throw in wireless connectivity this time round for those who are looking forward to the day where they can truly lead a wireless life. The backlight will adjust itself automatically based on the amount of light in the room thanks to integrated ambient light sensors, while motion sensors will detect whether those are your hands that approach the keyboard, turning on the backlight in the process (and vice versa, of course). Manual lighting adjustments lets you tailor the brightness based on your personal preference, while an On/Off switch makes it easier for you to conserve the K800’s battery life. It ought to hit the market later this month for $99. 99.

Posted on 19 August 2010. Tags: handsets, MUST, OLED, phone, screens, Windows
One of the key things that sets Windows Phone 7 apart from its predecessor, Windows Mobile, is that Microsoft have laid out a full list of specs that any phone wanting to use the new OS must conform to. Y’know, things like “they have to have the same three buttons below the screen“, “they have to use Snapdragon processors“, and “they can only use one of two screen resolutions“.
Well, according to The Silverlight Show, there may be a new criteria they have to meet, as well, as in “they must use OLED screens“.
So, good thing? Bad thing? Will it make Windows Phone 7 handsets even better, or scupper their chances in the market?
Well, potentially, this could be a very good thing indeed. Y’see, OLED screens have a reputation for giving much more vivid colour reproduction (so they’re prettier… see the Samsung Galaxy S for evidence), and for having a wider viewing angle (so you can see them being pretty without having to look dead on at the screen) than old style LCD screens. Oh, and of course, they have a reputation for not draining batteries as quickly, but only if you have a lot of black on the screen, ‘cos OLEDs work by emitting light. Therefore, any pixel that is black ain’t emitting light, and is therefore not drawing any power.
So, for a long battery life on OLED screens, use lots of black on screen. And what colour is Windows Phone 7’s Metro UI predominantly made of? S’black, innit. Well, unless you palette swap it in the settings to be black on white, while your battery is sat there, looking at you, whimpering, and begging you to go back to black.
So, having mandatory OLED screens and having a predominantly black OS should mean that, in everyday use (unless you’re caning Xbox Live, or something), Windows Phone 7 should also give you a pretty damn good battery life.
So, in other words, win-win.

Sony knows that gamers take their gaming sessions seriously – after all, they have had their fair share of experience with feedback from PS3 owners. There is no quite better way to play First Person Shooters (FPS) games than using the traditional keyboard and mouse setup, but that is just the beginning. Advances in gaming audio technology has made listening to audio cues extremely important, as that would help you determine the location of your adversary before you fire off that money shot. Sony aims to make this a private affair with the DR-GA500 gaming headphones that boast 7. 1-channel digital surround sound, accompanied by the DR-GA200 where both of them have 40mm drive units for premium gaming sound quality.
Both models will also be equipped with the unique ‘triple enfolding’ design for unrivalled comfort over long periods of wear. First off, the DR-GA500 will merge a Dolby Pro Logic IIx decoder with unique Sony Virtual Phones Technology (VPT) in order to create convincing 7. 1-channel 3D surround effects – works great only if the game was programmed to support such a set up natively, otherwise something that is artificially cooked up won’t sound as good. The whole signal processing hardware is contained within a compact external unit, resulting in a soundscape rich in precision spatial detail that pinpoints everything from a stealthy footstep to the position of an exploding grenade.
Both the DR-GA500 and GA200 gaming headphones will also be able to keep strategy and online multiplayer gamers happy, especially where both genres require long stretches of gameplay. Thanks to 40mm drive units that deliver outstanding sound quality with resonant, living bass and crisp high frequencies, alongside the aforementioned ‘triple enfolding’ design, you can be sure that comfort is on the top of the list for either model. They will also enhance your gamer looks thanks to a striking and individualistic design. From October 15th onwards, both the DR-GA500 and DR-GA200 will be accompanied by a free copy of the keenly anticipated new Medal Of Honor single player game – now how about that for value?

Posted on 19 August 2010. Tags: Again, Before, It’s, Leaked, Nokia
Right, now then, the Nokia N9. I’ve spoken about it before, but now some new pics have leaked online, and… well, it appears that the N9 I blogged about a while back wasn’t actually the N9 at all, which would nicely explain why it had Symbian on (when we were told Nseries phones wouldn’t use Symbian any more).
The new leak comes courtesy of Engadget (well, no, technically it comes courtesy of Baidu, but the original link is all in Chinese), and it includes new photos of the phone that show the body has a different shape to the one we saw in that video leak. Y’see, the old one had sort of ridges on either side of the keyboard (in landscape mode) that are absent on the new leak.
And therefore, that means this is a new phone and is much more likely to be the real Nokia N9 (see the source link for more details on why it’s looking like this is the real deal). What has me intrigued, though, is the fact that the interface on it looks like no version of Symbian I’ve seen up till now, which would tie in nicely with the fact Nokia’s top-enders are going to be using MeeGo. If what we’re seeing is MeeGo, of course, and not Symbian^4. However, I would like to make one tiny point, as to which OS it is: the status bar with the battery icon and all that gubbins on is identical to the one in the MeeGo interface, right down to things like icon placement.
So, my guess? Its MeeGo, baby, and we is finally seeing it in the flesh!
Looks like they’ve put it in a decent looking phone, too, since the whole body appears to be metal (best guess being aluminium), with only things like the keys, and a couple of buttons and flaps round the side being plastic. As for general body shape, it’s more or less identical to the Nokia N8 from the front, but it’s got the same kick-out keyboard-opening-mechanism-thing as things like the Nokia N97.
So, in other words, there’s every chance this could be one hell of a phone, when it gets released (which is allegedly going to happen in December, by the way).
